Pensions

“An arrangement to provide people with an income when they are no longer earning a regular income from employment.”

“The state provides basic pension provision intended to prevent poverty in old age. Men over the age of 65 and women over the age of 60 are entitled to claim state pension, although from 2010 the state pension age will start to be equalised and for women will rise, eventually reaching the age of 65 by 2020.

The basic state pension, then known as the “Old Age Pension” was introduced into the United Kingdom (including Ireland) in January 1909″

Current rates are £90.70 for single people, and £145.05 for couples.

Anyone aged over 60… can now travel free on all buses in Scotland and on off-peak services in England.

  1. Thank you for investigating these OAP’s for us…. We can now all keep an eye on them to see if we notice anything strange too!

  2. Some compelling evidence there.
However, have you thought about the impact these Tory bastards will have on OAPs? Soon there will be a shortage of OAPs when we’re all working until we’re 85.
